THINGS TO CONSIDER

Active Adult Living

Active Adult Living

Active adult communities have recently emerged as a popular option for individuals 55 and over. Most active adult communities do not have official age restrictions; however they do tend to attract those 55 and over. People moving into active adult communities are typically looking for low maintenance, smaller living spaces. The communities generally offer convenient locations, community gardens, walking paths, fitness options, dog parks, entertainment areas, special classes and events to name a few. For the most part, active adult living facilities do not offer healthcare, meals, or maid service. Often times, these particular services can be contracted out to a private party or firm by the individual.

Assisted Living

Assisted living facilities offer many of the amenities that active adult communities offer. This is a great option for those with minimal needs for assistance looking to maintain independent living in a safe environment. The additional care options in an assisted living facility can include but are not limited to assistance with dressing, bathing, meals, transportation, medical office visits, medication, shopping and house keeping. Most facilities also have an in-house beauty shop, cafeteria, library, game room and media room.
